Man of the house! Bindi Irwin’s new husband Chandler Powell shows off his wedding ring during the weekly grocery run as newlyweds continue to self-isolate at Australia Zoo following their nuptials

Chandler Powell hopped to husband duties this week, doing the weekly grocery run at a local Woolworths near Australia Zoo on Tuesday.

The American wakeboarder, who tied the knot with ‘Wildlife Warrior’ Bindi Irwin in March, was spotted pushing a trolley full to the brim with shopping bags.

Newlyweds Chandler and Bindi have been in lockdown at the Queensland animal park ever since they exchanged vows, and were forced to spend their honeymoon there due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Chandler flashed his new gold wedding band as he loaded the groceries into the family car.

It appears Bindi stayed home as the 21-year-old was nowhere in sight.

Chandler, 23, swapped his khakis for casual clothes during the outing, donning one of the Irwin family’s ‘Wildlife Warrior’ merchandise T-shirts, cargo shorts and a cap.

While tourists can no longer visit the Sunshine Coast animal park, it’s understood work is continuing at Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

It comes after Bindi revealed she was spending her honeymoon at Australia Zoo because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

She had married fellow conservationist Chandler in a private ceremony on the grounds of the world-famous zoo on March 25.

Earlier this week, the wildlife warriors confirmed on Instagram they hadn’t strayed far from their usual routine during their first days as husband and wife.

Bindi shared a photo of the newlyweds in their signature khaki uniforms while feeding a giraffe.

‘Our honeymoon may not have turned out as we’d planned, but we’re grateful to be spending time with our beautiful animals,’ she wrote.

‘Things are incredibly busy here while we’re temporarily not open. We’re all working together to make sure our animal family is happy.’

Bindi and Chandler’s wedding was filmed for U.S. cable channel Animal Planet and will air in Australia on May 23.
